In-House Challenge Tournament 2026

Iron Sharpens Iron: A Look Back at Our In-House Challenge Tournament.

This past Saturday, the mat at Black Hawks Martial Arts was buzzing with an energy that can only be described as electric. We hosted our first In-House Challenge Tournament, and once again, our students proved that the true spirit of martial arts isn’t just about belts or trophies, it’s about heart, respect, and pushing past your own limits.

It’s a chance for our White Belts to experience the thrill of competition for the first time in a supportive environment, and for our other ranks to test their skills against familiar faces in a new light. There are no “away games” here—just a room full of teammates, family, and friends cheering each other on.

The Action

We saw incredible performances across the board. From the high-energy sparring matches where technique and control were on full display, to the kata division where precision and focus stole the show. It takes a tremendous amount of courage to step onto the mat when all eyes are on you, and every single competitor did just that.

The Spirit

While we handed out medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, the real victories were quieter. They were the high-fives between opponents after a hard-fought match. They were the younger students watching the upper belts with wide eyes, dreaming of being there someday. They were the parents in the stands, hoarse from cheering.

A Huge Thank You

We want to extend a massive thank you to:

  • Our Competitors: You made us proud. You showed discipline, courage, and the indomitable Black Hawks spirit.
  • Our Instructors: For preparing these athletes not just physically, but mentally, to step into the ring.
  • Our Volunteers & Staff: These events don’t run smoothly without you handling registration, judging, and logistics.
  • Our Families: Thank you for filling the bleachers and creating the best atmosphere a martial artist could ask for.

If you missed this tournament, don’t worry. The skills we build on the mat are tested year-round, and we will be hosting our next challenge soon.

Keep training hard, Black Hawks Martial Artists. We’ll see you in the dojo!
